Maker Unknown Czechoslovakian Footed Drape Marigold Vase

Description

For years, most everyone, including myself, thought that the Footed Drape vase was possibly a product of Westmoreland. Well now the mystery is over.

I found a pair of these Footed Drape vases in an unexpected category on eBay on April 16, 2014 and had to have them. Both had two labels of origin on the bottom, as show in the second picture here, so at last the maker can be confirmed and the subject be put to rest on this interesting vase.

As you can see at the bottom of this one, there's the familiar black label with a gold outer band and lettering which reads “Made In Czechoslovakia”.  There is also a bonus label, that I assume was put on by (or for) the retailer which reads  “Storrs Gift Corner, Enid, Okla”. This is not what myself or others may have been counting on, but nonetheless, we have confirmation on the maker of this nice 11 3/4” vase. They range slightly in height which may be due to the fact they are mould blown and the glass is fairly thin with ground tops. I'm not sure of the date of manufacture but suspect it may be the early or mid 30's.

Marigold seemed to be the only reported color until I also confirmed and held in my hand a light amethyst or lavender example of the same height. It just goes to show that you never know.  It’s what makes Carnival Glass collecting so fascinating.
