Moonprint a.k.a. Globus

The Jolly Boys Outing!

The Moonprint vases were a online auction find and was the final push for us to commit to an Easter break which would involve some Carnival glass hunting. We had spent a couple of days deciding if we should go to an antique fair here in the UK on Good Friday, which was about a hour or so ride, or to get some jobs done in the garden.  On the Wednesday evening before the fair I arrived home from collecting our son from his cadets group to find my partner waiting with a big smile on his face. This normally means he wants something or has done something. I said, "What you smiling at?" and he replied, "You will never guess what I have just purchased." (Oh no is what I was thinking.) He led me to his laptop where he had left the page open on his purchase. "WOW! No way!!"  (The boys done good is what I am now thinking.)  Lee went on to say that it was only half hour's ride from Mums chalet on the Norfolk Coast and he's agreed to collect if we want and that he had found that the Norfolk Antique Fair was on the Sunday too. I could see a great weekend developing before my eyes.

After a quick chat with Mum to sort the chalet out,  the weekend was on! and before I knew it the time was 4:30 a.m. Friday morning and I was getting ready to meet a friend and stall holder who had sorted us some bands out for early entry to the Fair. He met us at the gates in his van and led us through all lined up cars, waiting to gain entry, down through the Trade entrance which was brilliant! We had front row parking and in a little early too.

Our Carnival Glass finds were early morning. Lee came back with a beautiful electric stippled blue Good Luck bowl with pie crust edge.  I found a pretty stippled G&C marigold plate with the rarer ribbed back along with a lovely Bells & Beads bowl, but other than that there was not a lot of Carnival Glass on offer. After about three hours hunting and a lot of chatting to stall holders, we have become friends and it was time for a coffee and the drive to collect the Moonprint vases.

We had another drive of about an hour and a half to go for the vases and I am really glad we have sat/nav as I don't think we would have found his place without it, tucked away down some country roads off a tiny village. Having finally found the cottage and having a little chat with the seller who did house clearance for his living, we swapped  emails and the vases were mine. I love this pattern and have a little display of there own and these were going to look great with the cheese keeper and butter dish I have in this pattern. We only had a short drive to go and decided to stop for a meal to finish off what was a long, action packed, fun day and one I will remember for a long time... Cheers! here's to the rest of the Hunting Holiday.
