Brockwitz Germany Rose Garden (Rosor) (Rosen) Blue Letter Vase
Description
Bought in the mid 90s these beautiful little Rose Garden (a.k.a. Rosor or Rosen) letter vases came to us from our dealer friend who picked them up in Sweden. These are the smallest version of this vase.
Rose Garden or Rosen is the Brockwitz German name for the pattern. It is also called Rosor by EDA. I am using Rosor as the other name, as I had not heard Rosen before, and I suspect neither will a lot of other people. When this pattern first made an appearance, it was thought that all the letter vases were from Eda and thus the name Rosor was the one used. Eda's version of the letter vase however is curved in at the top making it slightly oval in shape. It's good to see original and alternative names used.
The iridescence really is quite staggering showing a host of colours; gold, blue, turquoise, and rose red. They don't get any better than this. It's interesting to see the colour variation on each one.
These are 5 1/4" tall, 2 1/2" across the base, with a top opening of 4" by 2 1/4".
