Cristalerias Piccardo Argentina Imperial Marigold Water Pitcher
Description
This is the first piece of glass from Argentina that we ever saw. We were fortunate enough to be the winning bidders on this amazingly rare piece at the well known Frank & Shirley Hornes Auction House in early 2000.
At the time it was one of only two examples known to exist. The other was found in 1996 in the UK.
There are known to be two different sizes of this pitcher although I have never seen the smaller one.
Although the design is geometric, it is not cut deep into the surface as is the case with most European glass and does not have that sharpness. It has a very soft finish which is unusual for this type of pattern and is an extremely heavy piece.
It would indeed be wonderful to have a set of the goblets that go with this pitcher.
It measures 10" tall, 7 1/2" wide including the handle, a maximum body width of 5 1/2" and a depth of 4 1/2".
