Dugan Cherries Purple Collar Base Proof Bowl
Description
Dugan made the Cherries pattern in both the footed and the flat collar-base versions. This is the flat version which is seen here as it came out of the mould. It's called a proof bowl because its edge has not been manipulated in any way. These are usually found with either a six-ruffled or an eight-ruffled edge treatment. So, in this original form, fresh out of the mould, it's 8 1/4" wide and 3" high.
This is the first time I've ever seen one of these. It's a really neat item because it's much more compact than the wider, deep ruffled ones we're used to seeing.
