Dugan Daisy Web Purple JIP Hat Vase
Description
We were blessed to find what we think is a really pretty piece of glass at a flea market/antique show. We were walking between buildings and some dealers set up along the road. I looked over to the right and saw a table with a few pieces of carnival glass. There were three hat shapes and an ugly green bowl. I immediately noticed one was very brightly colored and I recognized the pattern as Dugan's Daisy Web in a JIP shape and crimped to boot. I picked it up and saw the price which was less than a good meal for two at a nice place. Debbie and I both checked it over for damage and I gave Debbie my wallet and told her I wanted the piece.
That experience is why we get up at 5:00 a.m. to drive for 45 minutes and pay to get into a flea market or antique show! Four out of five times we don't find anything great, but the occasional find like this keeps us in the hunt. We came home and I gave the Daisy Web a bath and took some photos of it. Christina, I noticed on your site that you own two beautiful Daisy Web hats. I think the color on this JIP is much like that on your tri-cornered one.
We were very happy to add this piece of Carnival glass to our collection. I have long admired the pattern and don't remember ever being at an auction where a really pretty one has sold.
