Dugan Fishscale & Beads Marigold Small Plate
Description
This marigold example of Dugan's Fishscale & Beads pattern shows how very nice these small plates can be. This one carries a lot of blues and pinks. It's one of what I call my "uncommon common" pieces. In other words, easily found patterns with outstanding iridescence.
There is no elegant back story to this treasure. It was found years ago in an Illinois antique mall inside of a dusty old wooden cabinet. The purchase price was $5, money well spent for this delightful uncommon common piece. Sometimes you come upon spectacular examples; at the 2014 ICGA convention auction a similar marigold plate that was positively loaded with electric lime green iridescence went for a whopping $160. It was gorgeous, but so is this plate.
