Faglaviks Sweden Paneled Palms Green Vase
Description
Here is a really pretty green vase I purchased on eBay in April of 2017 from someone who had it listed as unknown maker and pattern. It's 8.5" tall and 3" wide. I recognized who the possible maker was because I could see in the photos that the pattern extended to cover the bottom of the vase and the top was ground which tells me it was blown in the mould. I felt right away it was made by Faglaviks of Sweden. How exciting! (for me anyways). Faglaviks is also known for this lovely green base glass too.
On Glen Thistlewood's website, Carnival Glass Worldwide, I went right to the Faglaviks Glasbruk page and she posts, "Faglaviks patterns discovered so far: Palms and Ribs, Poppy Spray, Spiral and Susanne." Well, although there was no photo of this vase there, the name said it all for me so I assumed it was the Palms & Ribs. A good name will do that for you! Well, later on, after I posted it on Facebook on Carnival Glass Network, Glen Thistlewood sent me a photo of the Palms & Ribs pattern. It turns out that it was made only in candlesticks and it was surprisingly was very different than the pattern on this vase. Oh NO!
Glen remarked how the vase had every characteristic of being a Faglaviks piece and congratulated me on my new discovery, which was comforting, but I am still not so sure it is Faglaviks and think it could possibly be a Bohemian art glass vase. But nonetheless, I will leave it here on Showcase until more research can be done. For now, all the signs of how it was made point to Faglaviks of Sweden and so for reference sake I have named this vase Paneled Palms. If anyone has seen one like this, please drop me a line.
