Fenton Peacock & Grape Brick Red Bowl
Description
Our first piece of brick red came from the Carlton & Jane Tarkington auction in 2017. Bob and I were introduced to the Tarkington’s at the HOACGA convention auction in 2013 and Carlton passed away less than two years later so we never really got to know them.
We did know that they collected some beautiful Carnival Glass and we were optimistically hopeful that we would be able to win something from their auction at the ICGA convention in 2017. I say “optimistically hopeful” because we have been at auctions before where, by the time you put your bid card up, the price is already beyond what you had planned to spend.
We were happy to win four pieces from their auction including the red Peacock & Grape bowl. It did look more cherry red in the auction photo but, on the plus side, the iridescent colors turned out to be much better in person.
For our first brick red piece, we think it is exceptionally nice.
