Fenton Stippled Rays Amber Sugar Bowl Whimsey
Description
Although this pattern can be found in a host of shapes, the Breakfast Set two-handled Sugar will be the topic of this article.
Marigold and blue seem to be the most often found colors in this set, with Vaseline found on occasion. However, the most important factor here is that this is the only reported “Amber” piece I can find listed in the Breakfast Set.
The two-handled Sugar can sometimes be found in a whimsey shape where the two handles are pulled outwards and the opposite sides are flattened out. Here we see the handles are pulled up and inwards just slightly and the opposite side are in a “fan” shape.
Certainly not anything that would max out your savings, but on the other hand, it does have a certain amount of bragging rights since it’s the only reported Amber piece in the Breakfast Set and it's an odd shaped whimsey to boot. So we have two “firsts” here.
I’m always excited to find a “first reported” of anything and have been fortunate to recognize quite a few of these type items over the years, so keep on the lookout, as you never know when you might find something that hasn’t been reported before.
