Imperial Four Seventy Four Amethyst Punch Bowl Set

John Rogers purchased this pretty amethyst Imperial 474 punch set some time ago from Daryl & Norma Strohm of Independence, Missouri during a HOACGA convention in Kansas City, Missouri. John says many of you will remember Daryl Strohm as the long time Vice President of HOACGA.
At the time, Daryl conveyed to John that this punch set, complete with six cups, was thought to be the only known perfect example out there, and it was. John says since then, several seem to have come out of the woodwork.
I'm sure it seems that way to him, especially having seen so many appear here on Showcase where I've rounded them all up. Before that, people were trying to recollect on one hand how many they knew of. To date, I have accounted for at least eight known in purple or amethyst.
The name of the color is a matter of the owner's preference. With that said, John gave me the opportunity to photograph this beautiful amethyst set during my February 2015 visit with him & his lovely wife Patricia at their home in North Carolina. They also own a beautiful emerald green example as well.
I'd like to formally welcome John & Patricia Rogers to the Elite 474 Punch Bowl Club and I thank them for becoming new members of the Carnival Glass Showcase. What a wonderful way to make an entrance. We hope to see more of their collection soon. ~Miss Christina~
