Imperial Four Seventy Four Amethyst Punch Bowl Set

Description

I purchased the base in the 90’s from a Jim Wroda auction at one of his "junk" auctions that he used to have. He would have 1,000 pieces of glass and none were worth more then a few hundred dollars... a lot of parts and such.

Well, it took till 2014 till we had the opportunity to get the bowl, and where else???? a Jim Wroda auction. We got the auction brochure in the mail and saw that he was going to have this bowl so we prepared a strategy. We took along the base and didn’t let anyone know we had it.

The bidding was soft in the beginning and I really thought I had it at $300 but there was a left bid so I had to go higher. In the end we did get it. We immediately pulled the base out and had the runner place the bowl on top of it. Jim announced, “If you wait long enough look what happens!”

The top and bottom matched perfectly. The crowd was very kind and gave us a cheer.

Now fast forward to October, 2022....

Look what Sue and I just purchased. Story is this Electric Purple 10-piece 474 punch bowl set was sold to a gentleman in Almond, NY 25 years or so ago by Tom Burns. Kinda figures since Almond, NY is only about 20 minutes from Bath, NY where Tom lived. Pretty sure it’s one that hasn’t been reported so far. Just wanted to let you know there is one more for the list."
