Imperial Heavy Grape Purple Small Bowl or Sauce with Odd "Compass" Crimp

I bought this purple, 8-ruffled Heavy Grape sauce bowl from Mike Carwile. He purchased it from Daniel Ruth on eBay in 2015. This is the first example of such a crimp Mike had ever seen.

  

Mike says Daniel had dubbed this bowl as "Imperial’s Heavy Grape with a Compass Crimp", as the four longer crimps were pulled with a tool after the 8-point crimp was applied, thus pointing North, South, East & West. Very appropriate. The iridescence is absolutely stunning on the front as well as the exterior.

 

Of the 8 crimps, the 4 regular crimps have a diameter across of 6 1/4”.  The odd 4 crimps that were pulled out by hand afterwards are 6 3/4” across.  The bowl is 2 1/2” tall with a base diameter of 3 3/4” across.
