Imperial Nuart Homestead Amber Chop Plate

Description

Behold Imperial’s NUART Homestead chop plate in amber. These rare gems can also be found in rare cobalt blue, Helios green, olive green, emerald green, lavender, marigold, purple, smoke and white. The Homestead chop plate was originally known as Imperial’s #525 pattern. Some, but not all, carry the word NUART at about the 5 o’clock position on the front and the exterior is ribbed. They were never meant to be anything but ornamental and were used as intended, as decorative plates only.

The scene features a wee humble cottage equipped with at least one fireplace, plus a small addition or shed. Large oak trees pepper the landscape and simple, wooden, split rail fences line the property. Note the details to the lovely bridge, also lined with split rail, that reaches over the lazy river where a mother duck with ducklings cavort in the shallows. There are lovely flowers here and there and near the center is a figure lowers the water bucket into an old fashioned well. It’s simply amazing from the tiny cottage windows, shingled roof, and wooden boards of the bridge to the gentle ripples around the ducks.

This bucolic scene could be anywhere from Canada to Texas, Massachusetts to California. Lucky are those who have or have had one of these delightful chop plates in their collection. We purchased this beautiful 10" chop plate in 2013 from an auction featuring the Roy Hieger collection. It's very high on our favorites list!
