Maker Unknown Aurora Pearls Bride's Basket Bowl
Description
I purchased a Grape & Cable punch set along with a table set, which I collect, off a seller who wanted to liquidate most of their collection as they were moving/downsizing.
When I got home, I sent them a message thanking them for letting me into their home and for showing and selling me some of their collection. I received a message back with pictures of the Aurora Pearls asking me if I would like to purchase them too, along with a couple of pitchers, which I also collected, a couple of days later.
The first bowl I am sending pictures of looks very similar to the one on the right of Doty's page here: http://ddoty.com/aurorapearls.html.
I have taken pictures on a white background and on black. I think it comes alive on the black."
The Lynne Martin & Lee Moore Collection
NOTE from the Editor: As David Doty mentions, these beautifully enameled hand-decorated bowls are not considered Carnival Glass because they don't have an actual pattern. They are, however, iridized and there is quite a variety to collect as many Carnival collectors do. We hope to bring you more examples soon.
One similar bowl already shown here on Showcase is the Dinosaur brides basket by Rindskopf. Now, this bowl does have a pattern of strange looking peacocks that look more like dinosaurs and is iridized but without the enameling. The similarity lies in that it is made with the same color glass with the green mottling and same type of mould which produced a smooth blown out marie.
It is not certain what other companies produced these lovely bowls for jewelry stores who would fit them into silver-plated baskets used for weddings.
Thank you Lynne for sharing your beautiful bowl.
