Maker Unknown Mopey Dog Marigold Candy Container Bottle
Description
When I was a child in the late 40’s, we could buy a Mopey Dog filled with tiny, colorful, polka dotted candy for a nickel at the Saturday Matinee. There was a cardboard tab on the bottom of Mopey Dog that you would remove to get to the candy contents. I don’t recall seeing one that was iridized but back then I was interested in the candy and would have thrown the bottle away.
There is another version of the Mopey Dog Candy Container similar to this Mopey but with a screw-on lid. I would think this was targeting adults as the screw top would be more expensive to make.
