Maker Unknown Odd Stippled Rays with Swirl Base
Description
This unique Odd Stippled Rays eight-ruffled bowlwas found in Max Meadows, Virginia in the winter of 2013. What drew my attention to it while browsing through this particular antique mall was the bowl’s color as I came closer to where it was sitting on a table by itself.
At the time when I picked it up and did my initial inspection was when I noticed immediately that the swirled rayed base was not your run of the mill design. Not having seen nor heard of any others like it, I took the privilege of naming it Odd Stippled Rays.
It's odd in more ways than one. You see, the color is a tricky one. It usually appears to be amber, or possibly what I have heard simply called "brown". Then again, I can look at it in certain lighting conditions and it will look amber with an olive hue to it. I've seen two other bowls in this odd color, one being a Fenton Dragon & Lotus bowl and the other an Imperial Open Rose Ruffled bowl.
