Millersburg Primrose Amethyst Bowl

This beautiful bowl was purchased from Fred Stone & Ann McMorris toward the end of the 2014 HOACGA convention. Fred brought it to be included in the great Millersburg glass display where several collectors contributed by bringing their best Millersburg pieces from home to build this stunning collection for a seminar talk during this convention. This Primrose bowl was a great example of a more common Millersburg pattern with qualities so exceptional that it made me feel it was a once in a lifetime chance to own something this special.

Fred says, "Primmy came to us on July 14, 2012 at the ICGA auction of the Geneva Leonard collection. She was something special, as reflected in the bidding. A new high, almost ten times most sales listed in any price guide, was realized at one thousand dollars. One price guide now describes it as "Amethyst, Spectacular". She is almost certainly "The Best of the Best". Electric radium with cyanotic cyan blue highlights is the best description I can give her. Having had a really great piece of Millersburg was a true joy for us."

I'd like to thank Fred for the opportunity to add Primmy to my collection. I know it wasn't easy to part with her. Actually it was quite emotional for both of us. I think Fred knows Primmy will always be very much admired and appreciated by many people for years to come.
