Millersburg Feather & Heart Marigold Tumbler Etched "Mother 1910"
Description
I adore this pattern called Feather & Hearts. How endearing a gift it is, given to someone's "Mother [in] 1910", over a hundred years ago. The four up-side-down hearts with stars inside them are so elegant along the bottom. Above them are diamonds made of four English Hobnails. Twelve feathers all around give it its crowning glory.
The color is marigold with highlights of green, blue, yellow, and magenta. It's 4 inches tall and 3 inches wide at the top. The base is 2 1/4 inches wide and has a 24-rayed pressed star. The rays on the star are alternating; one long, then three short, six times. This tumbler was made in a 4-part mould.
I purchased it online during a Seeck Auction selling the collection of Michael & Linda Cain in November of 2017. I love personalized etching on glass. It makes the piece very special knowing it was a gift to make a Mother happy. These tumblers are frequently found etched this way, be it to personalize as a gift or used as a souvenir. This marigold version is most commonly found, and it was also produced in the harder-to-find green and amethyst colors.
