Northwood Fine Cut & Roses Emerald Green Rosebowl
Description
We bought this beautiful little rosebowl at the beginning of the 90s when we had only been collecting for a short while. We found it in an Antique Fair in the North of England and the lady we bought it from became one of our "go to" stall holders for Carnival Glass. She used to get her glass from someone who travelled regularly to the United States and always brought her quality items, mainly tumblers.
As far as we were concerned it was green. We only knew the basic colours then; green, blue and marigold so were pleased with our purchase as it had a good deal more colour than a few of the other green pieces we had seen. It spent a few years in a cabinet and later, as we started to buy European Carnival Glass, it was put away to give space to our new passion.
It was only when Emerald Green pieces started to be mentioned in auctions and I started to see the photos that I suddenly thought I'm sure we have some Emerald Green pieces and sure enough we had. This little beauty came back out and after a good clean-up, I couldn't believe the amount of colour showing. Not just green but blue, turquoise, purple, gold and even a hint of red.
Now it's at the front of a cabinet where we can see it all the time and marvel how the colour changes throughout the day. What a lucky find!
