Northwood Grape & Cable Amethyst Centerpiece Bowl

The bowl shown here is known as a Northwood Grape & Cable centerpiece bowl having the amethyst base color. It measures approximately 9 1/2" wide and stands 4 1/2" tall. It sits on three scrolled feet. This pattern and shape can have points that are straight up or turned inward like the one shown here.

So today, I would like to share with the Carnival Glass community this very lovely centerpiece bowl, or is it a "Giant Rosebowl" as Mickey Reichel would call it?!  I first laid eyes on this piece at a Mickey Reichel Auction in 2012 and after seeing several of these listed on eBay and other auctions, I have never seen one with this nice of color. The iridescence is exceptional and has a very vibrant shine. Some would say electric!

After previewing this piece before the auction began, I just knew I had to go for it. So, like most of us, we would look in our books to see the value of the piece and judge accordingly based on condition, rarity, and of course color!  I knew this one was above average for these so I leaned more toward the high side on value. I then set my price in my mind and wait for it to be offered.

Well, this one started the bidding at the max price I had in mind!  I guess I wasn't the only one really wanting this bowl!  As you can see here, I had to go above and beyond in order to win the prize.
