My first mentors in Carnival Glass were Jim and Jan Seeck. I used to go to Seeck antiques auctions and avoided all that "strange glass" auctions they had.
Then, one preview night, I went and was dazzled! Jim always is helpful explaining things. Bob Grissom also gave me tips early on. But I remember at my first auction I was muttering to myself on how could I tell if it was old Carnival...and a couple beside me overheard and explained to me straw marks. That's how it is with many collectors....friendly help in bits and pieces...at just the right moment.
