Riihimaki Finland Starburst Blue Open Sugar Bowl

The Starburst open sugar was offered to me along with a few of other pieces of European Carnival Glass from a gentlemen that I had purchased from some time ago. Every now and then I get a email containing pictures and a price, asking if I would like them. Business is normally quick. After a couple of emails exchanged, asking how we both are and what we have been up to, we don’t communicate until the next sale.
 
I’m always a little anxious on the delivery of the parcel as it’s never packed too well. There were seven pieces arriving this time. I need not have worried, as all arrived safe, although I’m not sure how....but they did. The excitement of pulling the pieces out the box, one by one, and wondering what piece was hiding behind the bubble wrap is the best time, better than Christmas morning for me.

Made by Riihimaki, this "Starburst" (also known as Kero) sugar bowl in blue was one of the first pieces out and on its opening the iridescence made me smile, shouting Lee in to come and have a look.

At just 4 1/2 inches wide, it really is a little beauty with stunning colouring which makes it stand out on its display shelf.
