Millersburg Nesting Swan Green Bowl
Description
I have to say Millersburg Nesting Swan is one of my favorite patterns. A lot of other people's as well. I was at a HOACGA convention with Judy Maxwell's collection for sale at the auction.
Going into the preview before the auction on Friday night, I have no idea of what to expect. I was standing in a line of other anxious collectors looking for their favorites. About halfway in was this Nesting Swan bowl in green.
I call it emerald green, beautiful with blue, pinkish and gold iridescence. It's a six ruffle bowl with a fabulous contrasting exterior pattern of Diamond & Fan. The front of the bowl depicts a graceful swan sitting on a nest of reeds with stippled flowers and leaves radiating outwards. It's nine inches across and three inches tall.
Immediately I know this is the bowl for me, if I can get it. Seldom have I absolutely known for sure. Usually I have a few I like really well and a few backup pieces I want to try for. Long story short, it became mine and it's now one of my most favorite bowls. It always shows its true colors.
